Show Notes

How much do you trust yourself to make decisions? Women especially are taught in both subtle and not so subtle ways not to trust ourselves. We are given messages over and over again that we don’t know enough, that we don’t do enough, that we aren’t enough. (Then, when we ARE true to ourselves, we’re told we’re “too much.”) This feeds a need to prove ourselves and to try to control other people’s behavior and emotions for us to be “okay.” The self-relationship is the cornerstone of all relationships and it is reflected powerfully by our children, if we’re willing to look and learn.

In this episode of the Unlimited Podcast I invited Shelly Robinson to join me for a conversation exploring the need for control and learning to trust ourselves.

Some of what we talk about in this episode include:

  • Disrupting patterns of being
  • Releasing labels and behavior as a basis for worth
  • Creating space to make decisions from love
  • The importance of building our own resilience
  • Being aware of what you’re focusing on
  • Nurturing relationships with kids or anyone starts with knowing yourself
